Sunday December 27 was a red letter day in Ivorian football as the best players on the championship were rewarded for their efforts. The laureates of the 2008-2009 season received their trophies with ASEC getting the bulk of the honours. The following players were awarded in the categories below:
Best Player : Kouakou N’doua Irénée (ASEC)
Best Scorer : Brossou Pkéhi, 17 buts (Sabe Sport of Bouna)
Best goalkeeper : Yeboua Daniel (ASEC)
Best coach : Gouamene Maxime (ASEC)
Fair-play : ASEC
Best Referee : Doue Noumandiez Désiré (for the fourth consecutive time)
In the special prize category, Roger Ouégnin, long time president of Asec was awarded the best managers award while Karim Diabagaté, who is on record for helping Sabe of Bouna stay in the Division 1 championship for 20 years was handed the encouragement award. The best player, best goal scorer and goalkeeper were all handed checques worth one million CFA frs each while the best manager, and best referee took home 200.000 francs CFA each.
