Following their loss to Gabon in the opening match, the playing body and the technical team of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon resumed training on Thursday, January 14 in Lubango on a high note. The session was opened to the public and was graced by a heavy media presence, with most of them pesent to make inquiries about the team’s false start at the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, Angola 2010.
It was a merry atmosphere at the training grounds in Lubango, situated few metres away from the Chela Dela Serra Hotel, which houses both the Indomitable Lions and the Chipolopolo of Zambia.
The session was largely devoted to physical exercises and stretching of muscles for players who took part in the opener against Gabon, whilst the substitutes were involved in a non-competitive game amongst themselves.
Head Coach Paul Le Guen expressed disappointment with outcome of the Gabon match, while hoping for an improvement in the remaining games. “We remain focused for the remaining games. The players are calm, they train well and we intend to approach Sunday's game against Zambia with all the seriousness it deserves. We hope to have more success than at first we did not deserve not losing because we dominated a greater part of the game,” said Le Guen.
Achille Emana, the attacking midfielder, also said that he and his teammates are not perturbed by defeat to Gabon and are poised to give off the best to ensure victory against Zambia.
Samuel Eto'o, captain of the team, after the session went into the stands to interact with fans and commend the Ngando Band, who stormed Lubango to cheer on the team amidst drumming and dancing.Cameroon faces Zambia on Sunday, January 17 at Lubango for their second Group D match at the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, Angola 2010.
